Notice

The Regional Director General for the Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans hereby gives notice that the area listed below located in the Province of Prince Edward Island is no longer closed to fishing of any bivalve molluscs because of high levels of biotoxins (PSP): 
 
The waters of the Northumberland Strait inside a line drawn from grid reference 394100 5163050 at West Point, seaward to grid reference 386000 5161000 and then northerly to grid reference 386000 5177350 then westerly to Seal Point at grid reference 394600 5177300 (Refer to maps O’Leary 21 I/9).
 
Note: When the boundary of an area is expressed in grid references, those grid references are based on the Universal Transverse Mercator Grid system set out on the National Topographic Series Map, Scale 1:50,000 published by the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources (North American Datum 1927).
 
Fishers are reminded that while some of the waters of Prince Edward Island are no longer closed due to high levels of biotoxins, these same waters may be closed to fishing due to high levels of bacteria. Fishers are encouraged to consult their local Fishery Officers concerning the status of the fishing areas before going fishing.
