Notice

The Regional Director General for the Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, hereby gives notice of the following daily quota changes for salmon angling in the waters of Salmon Fishing Area 16 in the Province of New Brunswick:

  • Waters of Salmon Fishing Area 16 – Open season: April 15 to October 15
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to October 15, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.

Except those waters mentioned below

  • All the waters of Kent and Westmorland Counties flowing into the Northumberland Strait, including Aboujagane River, Baie Verte Creek, Black River, Bouctouche River, Cocagne River, Chockpish River, Gaspareau River, Kouchibouguac River, Kouchibouguacis River, Richibucto River, Scoudouc River, Shediac River, Timber River and also that portion of the South Branch of the Southwest Miramichi River upstream from the footbridge behind the Juniper Lumber Mill to the remnants of the old Flemming Gibson Dam -
    Season closed
  • Bartibog River, Burnt Church River, Tabusintac River –
    Open season: April 15 to October 29
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to October 29, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
  • Big Sevogle River downstream from and including Square Forks, Little Southwest Miramichi River downstream from and including Catamaran Brook, and Northwest Miramichi River from and including Little River downstream to the Red Bank Bridge at Route 425 –
    Open Season: April 15 to October 15
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to May 31, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From June 1 to July 31, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon and the daily bag limit is zero (0).
    From August 1 to October 15, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, and the daily bag limit is zero (0). 
  • Little Southwest Miramichi River, upstream from Catamaran Brook to and including Clelands Pool – Open season: April 15 to October 15
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to October 15, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon and the daily bag limit is zero (0).
  • Southwest Miramichi River, upstream from the mouth of Burnt Land Brook to the fork of the North and South Branches at Juniper –
    Open season: April 15 to October 15
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to September 30, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From October 1 to October 15, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon and the daily bag limit is zero (0).
  • Clearwater Brook – Open season: April 15 to September 30
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to September 15, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
  • Clearwater Brook upstream to the fork of its Northeast Branch, from September 16 to September 30, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon and the daily bag limit is zero (0).
  • Dungarvon River upstream from Furlong Bridge, North and South Branches of the Renous River, North Branch of the Southwest Miramichi River upstream to the Bridge Pool, South Branch of the Southwest Miramichi River upstream to the footbridge behind the Juniper Lumber Mill, South Branch of the Southwest Miramichi River upstream from the remnants of the old Flemming Gibson Dam to its source, all tributaries upstream from Cains River on the Southwest Miramichi River (except Rocky Brook and Clearwater Brook) –
    Open season: April 15 to September 15
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to September 15, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
  • North Branch and South Branch of the Big Sevogle River upstream from Square Forks, Little Southwest Miramichi River and its tributaries upstream of Catamaran Brook –
    Open season: April 15 to September 15
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon and the daily bag limit is zero (0).
    From May 16 to September 15, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon and the daily bag limit is zero (0).
  •  Rocky Brook – Open season: April 15 to August 31
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to August 31, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
  • Northwest Miramichi River upstream of Little River –
    Open season: June 10 to September 15
    From June 10 to September 15, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon and the daily bag limit is zero (0).
  • South Branch of the Northwest Miramichi River –
    Open season: June 10 to August 31
    From June 10 to August 31, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon and the daily bag limit is zero (0).
  • North Branch of the Southwest Miramichi River upstream from the Bridge Pool to its source – Open season: April 15 – June 30
    From April 15 to May 15, the daily hook and release limit is ten (10) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.
    From May 16 to June 30, the daily hook and release limit is four (4) salmon, unless the daily bag limit of one (1) grilse has been retained.

Gulf Region Close Time and Quota Variation Order 2014-061 will come into force on the date of signature and remains in force, unless otherwise revoked.
