Notice

The Regional Director General for the Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans hereby gives notice of the following changes to the recreational clam fishery for the inland and tidal waters of Prince Edward Island.


SEASONS

Inland and tidal waters of Prince Edward Island will be open to clams recreational fishing with hand and hand-held tools when not diving for the following clam species on the following dates:

Bar clams
From April 1 to December 31

Bay quahaugs
From July 18 to November 30 from sunrise to sunset
*CLOSED on all Sundays

Razor clams
From April 1 to December 31

Soft-shell clams
From May 1 to October 31 from sunrise to sunset

Note: Recreational fishing for all of the clam species by any other method, including by diving, is closed every year, from January 1 to December 31.

MINIMUM LENGTHS

No person shall catch and retain any clams that are less than the minimum length for the following species:

Bar clams: 102 mm
Bay quahaugs: 50 mm
Soft-shell clams: 50 mm

Note: There is no minimum length for razor clams.

DAILY FISHING QUOTA

No more than 100 clams, of all species combined from any or all of the following species can be caught and retained in any day: bar clam, bay quahaug, razor clam and soft-shell clam.

Gulf Region Close Time Variation Orders 2008-010 and 2003-028, and Gulf Region Minimum Length and Quota Variation Order 2001-168 are hereby revoked.

Gulf Region Close Time, Minimum Length and Quota Variation Order 2016-011 comes into force on April 7, 2016.
