Notice

As per the Charlottetown PEI Conditional Management Plan, all of the Conditionally Restricted areas as described below will be placed in Open Status starting on June 1st, 2020.  Harvesting, relay and depuration will now be permitted (these area are also known as areas A, B, C and D):

Conditionally Restricted areas placed in Open Status:


1. The portions of North River, in the vicinity of Trans-Canada Highway causeway at Poplar Island, downstream of the prohibited area boundary on the south side of Poplar Island from a line drawn from grid reference 486308E 5122830N to grid reference 486391E 5122862N. Bounded on the South by a line drawn across North River from a point near the mouth of McEwen’s Creek at 487626E 5120133N to 488310E 5120411N, including all waters of Ellen’s Creek and Hermitage Creek. This area is designated by A, B and C on the Charlottetown Harbour classification map (attached).

2. The areas described below (a and b) are designated by D on the Charlottetown Harbour classification map (attached):


a. The waters of North River, downstream of Area C depicted on the attached classification map from a line drawn across North River from a point near the mouth of McEwens Creek at 487626E 5120133N to 488310E 5120411N; the waters of Charlottetown Harbour east of a line drawn across the mouth of West River from North Point at 487567E 5117742N to 488005 E 5117026N and, north of a line drawn from Holland Cove at 489502E 5114291N to a point near the base of Lobster Point Lane at 492120E 5115461N.  Excluded from this are the prohibited area in Charlottetown Harbour, a line drawn from Brighton Shore near the foot of Viceroy Avenue at 488485E 5119860N to 488215E 5119720N then to channel marker CHC at 488330E 5117768N, then to Ferry Point at 491633E 511918N.

b. The waters of Hillsborough (East) River of the prohibited area boundary a line drawn across Hillsborough (East) River from Duffys Point at 493777E 5121360N to a point on the bank of the river behind the Hillsborough Hospital at 492953E 5122469N, to a line drawn across the river from 495674E 5126157N to 497012E 5125287N, excluding the prohibited area at the mouth of Wrights Creek, a line drawn across the mouth of Wrights Creek from a point at 49493033E 5123915N to a point in the river channel at 493059 5124045N, and excluding the restricted waters of Mermaid Cove, inside of a line drawn from a point near Munns Point at 495633E 5123210N to MacLeods Island at 496362E 5124688N.

Note: All Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates are based on North American Datum 1983 and are located in UTM Zone 20

All prohibited areas remain closed at all times.
