Capelin Fixed Gear Fishery Opening in a Portion of Area 14

DFO advises that the Capelin fixed gear fishery using traps and bar seine (including tuck seine), for vessels less than 65 feet, in a portion of Capelin Fishing Areas 14 will open at 0600hrs on Friday, June 24, 2016.

The specific Capelin quota zones that are opening are as follows:

-that portion known as Ingornachiox Bay and Hawkes Bay, inside a straight line drawn from Spirty Point (50°36'N; 57°00'W) to the French Shore site (50°54'N; 57°18'50"W).

-that portion from a line drawn due west of Point Riche, north to a line drawn due west of Big Brook.

All fish harvesters are reminded that dockside monitoring requirements are in place for this fishery. Licence conditions can be obtained from DFO’s National Online Licencing System.
