Fixed Gear less than 65' Vessel Greenland Halibut (Turbot) Fishery Opening in NAFO Divisions 3LMNO


DFO advises that the fixed gear Greenland halibut (Turbot) Permit #2 fishery in NAFO Division 3LMNO will open for vessels less than 65 feet on August 24, 2017 at 0600 hours and will close on September 14, 2017 at 2000 hours.

Fish Harvesters are required to hail-out to an At-Sea Observer company 24 hours prior to leaving port. All gear must be removed from the waters of NAFO Divisions 3LMNO at the end of the trip.

DFO reminds fish harvesters that VMS is required for all vessels greater than 10.668 meters (35 feet) that are participating in the 2017 Greenland Halibut fishery in NAFO areas 3LMNO.

Harvesters who were successful in the draw have been notified by e-mail and licences conditions will be available through DFO's National On-line Licencing System on Wednesday August 23, 2017.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2017-202 has been revoked and Variation Order 2017-233 comes into effect on August 23, 2017.
