NORTH ATLANTIC RIGHT WHALE SIGHTING

On Thursday, September 19th, 2019, a North Atlantic right whale was sighted swimming off Red Point Head in Bonavista Bay, NL.

Based on the information we have at this time, there is no immediate plan to implement any temporary measures in the area.

At this time, fishing will continue but harvesters should be on alert.

The Government of Canada is undertaking extensive surveillance of many areas of Atlantic Canadian waters where North Atlantic right whales may be present.
