AMERICAN PLAICE FISHERY OPENING IN A PORTION OF NAFO DIVISION 4Rd



DFO advises that the American Plaice gillnet fishery, for the groundfish fixed gear vessels based in NAFO Divisions 4R3Pn, will open at 0600hrs on July 21, 2016 in a portion of NAFO sub-Division 4Rd. The specific area that will open is from a line drawn due west of Cape Ray, north to a line drawn due west of Johnson's Cove, (Bay St. George) in water depths of 20 to 40 fathoms only.

Fish harvesters are reminded that this fishery will be closely monitored for incidences of excessive by-catch and will close if the established protocols are exceeded. Atlantic Halibut is not permitted to be retained in this fishery. Licence conditions are available from the DFO National On-Line Licencing System (NOLS).
