WINTER FLOUNDER (Blackback) FISHERY OPENING IN A PORTION OF 4R
DFO advises that the Winter Flounder (blackback) gillnet fishery, for fixed gear vessels less than 65 feet based in NAFO Divisions 4R3Pn, will open at 0600hrs on August 5, 2016 in the following area:
- that portion of NAFO sub-Division 4Ra from a line drawn due west of Ferolle Point, north to a line drawn due west of Unfortunate Cove Point (near the community of Big Brook), in water depths of 15 fathoms or less only.
This fishery will be closely monitored for incidences of excessive by-catch and the fishery will close if the established protocols are exceeded.
