Scallop Fishery Closure in Fortune Bay

DFO advises commercial Scallop fish harvesters in Scallop Fishing Area 11 (Fortune Bay) that a new closed the area near Garnish will close as of 6:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2016 to protect Lobster and Lobster habitat.

 

Fishing is not authorized in the area bound by straight lines drawn between the following coordinates:

47 degrees 11 minutes 24 seconds North, 55 degrees 27 minutes 36 seconds West (White Point) to

47 degrees 12 minutes 36 seconds North, 55 degrees 29 minutes 24 seconds West to

47 degrees 24 minutes North, 55 degrees 19 minutes 48 seconds West to

47 degrees 23 minutes 24 seconds North, 55 degrees 17 minutes 24 seconds West (Point Rosie).

 

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2016-217 has been revoked and Variation Order 2016-231 comes into effect on October 7, 2016.
