Molluscan Shellfish Harvesting Re-opening - Various Bays

 

DFO advises that, following acceptable water quality sampling by Environment and Climate Change Canada and shellstock sampling by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, portions of the coastline of Newfoundland that was closed on October 11, 2016 due to significant rainfall will re-open for molluscan shellfish harvesting.

 

- all waters within 3 km of the coastline and islands from the headland at Grates Point 355618E 5337315N (near Bay de Verde) northwest to a point near Cape Freels at 317550E 5461710N

 

- all waters within 3 km of the coastline and islands from Point May 581243E 5193953N (on the Burin Peninsula) east to the headland at Cape St. Mary’s 713791E 5189106N

 

- all waters within 3 km of the coastline and islands from the headland at Little Harbour Deep Head at 534542E 5563775N east to North Head (near Fortune Harbour) at 633141E 5489509N

 

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Prohibition Orders NSN2016-023, NSN2016-022, NSN2016-019, and NSN2016-021 have been revoked and Prohibition Orders NSN2016-024, NSN2016-026, NSN2016-025 and NSN2016-027 come into effect at 1300 hours on October 21, 2016.
