NOTICE OF SEASONS FOR RECREATIONAL AND COMMERCIAL CLAM FISHING IN AREA 2

 

The Regional Director-General Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Maritimes Region, gives notice that the fishing of bar clam, bay quahaug, razor clam and soft-shelled clam for recreational or commercial purposes by hand and with hand held tools throughout Clam Harvesting Area 2 (all of the tidal waters adjacent to the counties of Digby, Annapolis and Kings, Nova Scotia) are closed from January 1 to April 14 (open from April 15 to December 31), except for the following areas:

Exceptions for Commercial and Recreational Fishing:

 

  1. Closed January 1 to the third Tuesday in April at sunrise. Closed sunset each Tuesday to sunrise the following Tuesday, (open sunrise to sunset each Tuesday) in that portion of Annapolis River, Nova Scotia, known locally as Pony Road, inside a line drawn from position 44° 41’ 37.69” N, 65° 36’ 06.4” W at Oak Point to 44° 41’ 47.9” N, 65° 36’ 13.67” W thence to 44° 42’ 04.5” N, 65° 35’ 53.9” W thence to 44° 42’ 22.0” N, 65° 34’ 58.8” W to 44° 41’ 58.5” N, 65° 35’ 05.9” W (NAD 83).

     

    (2)  Closed January 1 to the third Wednesday in April at sunrise. Closed sunset each Wednesday to sunrise the following Wednesday, (open sunrise to sunset each Wednesday) in that portion of the Annapolis River, Nova Scotia, known locally as Queen Anne Marsh, inside a line drawn from position 44° 42’ 54.6” N, 65° 34’ 50.3” W at Kennedy Brook to 44° 42’ 36.6” N, 65° 34’ 55.4” W thence to 44° 42’ 20.5” N, 65° 37’ 14.2” W thence to 44° 42’ 29.6” N, 65° 37’ 14.6” W at Schafners Point (NAD 83).

     

    Exception for Recreational Fishing:

     

  1. Recreational fishing of Bar Clam Only - Closed December 1 to March 15 (open March 16 to November 30) in that portion of Digby County inside a line drawn from position 44° 12’ 53.16” N, 66° 09’ 09.6” W at Pointe des Marechal to 44° 13’ 13.14” N, 66° 09’ 31.17” W  thence to 44° 20’ 04.05” N, 66° 08’ 24.37” W thence to 44° 24’ 55.81” N, 66° 03’ 36.93 W to 44° 24’ 45.14” N, 66° 02’ 53.93” W (NAD 83).

     

    The Maritimes Region Close Time Variation Order MAR-VAR-2019-053 is hereby revoked.
