3Ps Scallop Fishery Opening

DFO advises that the 3Ps commercial Scallop fishery in Scallop Fishing Areas 10 (Placentia Bay) and SFA 11 (Fortune Bay) will open for all fish harvesters at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017.

Fish harvesters are reminded that fishing is not permitted in the middle bed, southern bed, the Core Area and the area south of the Core Area to 46 degrees 12 minutes North latitude. These areas are defined in your licence conditions.

You are reminded that fishing licences for 2017 are not available at this time. Those who wish to fish must have their 2016 fishing licence manually amended by a fishery officer or a licensing officer to extend their licence into 2017. After January 22, you will be required to have your 2017 licence conditions in your possession before going fishing.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2016-263 has been revoked and Variation Order 2017-002 comes into effect on January 7, 2017.
