Soft-Shell Closed Areas for Crab and Shrimp in NAFO Divisions 2J and 3K



DFO wishes to advise that in accordance with the soft-shell Crab protocol, the following grids in Crab Fishing Areas 2 and 4, in NAFO Divisions 2J south and 3K, will close to fishing for both Snow crab and Northern shrimp at midnight on Thursday, June 22, 2017 due to a high incidence of soft-shell Crab.

These grids will be closed to Snow crab fishing for the remainder of the year. The closure for Northern shrimp is in effect for 60 days, and these grids will re-open to Shrimp fishing on August 22, 2017.

Harvesters should note that all gear in these grids shall be removed on your next fishing trip. 1. Grids S37 and S38. These grids straddle NAFO zones 2Js and 3K.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Orders 2017-118 and 2017-109 have been revoked and Variation Orders 2017-122 and 2017-123 come into effect at 1800 hours on June 22, 2017.
