Soft-Shell Closed Area for Crab and Shrimp in NAFO Divisions 2J

DFO wishes to advise that in accordance with the soft-shell Crab protocol, the following grid in Crab Fishing Area 2 in NAFO Division 2J will close to fishing for both Snow crab and Northern shrimp at 2400 hours on Thursday, July 6, 2017 due to a high incidence of soft-shell Crab.

This grid will be closed to Snow crab fishing for the remainder of the year. The closure for Northern shrimp is in effect for 60 days, and this grid will re-open to Shrimp fishing on September 6, 2017. 

Harvesters should note that all gear in this grid shall be removed on your next fishing trip. 1. Grid M-37 

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Orders 2017-135 and 2017-138 have been revoked and Variation Orders 2017-140 and 2017-139 come into effect at 1800 hours on July 6, 2017.
