MACKEREL FISHERY FIXED GEAR OPENING IN FISHING AREAS 12, 13, 14

DFO advises that the Mackerel fixed gear fishery (gillnet, trap, handlines, mechanical jigger, and bar seine, including tuck seine) for vessels less than 19.8 metres in Mackerel Fishing Areas 12, 13, and 14, will open at 0600 hours on August 4, 2017.

Fish harvesters based in Fishing Area 13 are reminded that, for the protection of migrating salmon, the inner portion of the Bay of Islands remains closed.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Order 2016-278 has been revoked and Variation Order 2017-198 comes into effect on August 4, 2017.
