Reminder: 2J3KL Northern Cod Stewardship/Bycatch - Weekly limit and Gear

DFO reminds harvesters that the base authorized weekly limit for the 2J3KL northern cod stewardship/bycatch fishery for the period of October 1 - November 30, 2017 is 5000 lbs/week. Conditions for this period will be available to harvesters via NOLs in the coming days.

 

In addition, as per the 2017 Conservation Harvesting Plan for the 2J3KL Stewardship cod fishery DFO is reminding harvesters that they are authorized to use the following # of gill nets:

 

For the months of October and November, if harvesters have acquired additional Cod shares through enterprise combining, the maximum authorized number of nets onboard the vessel or in the water at any one time is as follows:

 

(1) Base allocation = 6 nets

(2) Less than or equal to 1 additional allocation = 9 nets

(3) Less than or equal to 2 additional allocations = 12 nets
