HERRING FIXED GEAR FISHERY OPENING IN AREAS 12, 13 and 14

DFO advises herring fishing areas 12, 13 and 14 for fixed gear will open January 1, 2018 at 0600.

2017 conditions will have to be amended by a fishery or licencing officer to validate conditions. A Notice to Fishers will be published when 2018 conditions are available.

This fishery will open on an interim quota for all fleets until the Total Allowable Catch is determined in the spring of 2018.

The small fish tolerance increase to 20% announced in December 2017 will remain in effect until further notice.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2017-315 has been revoked and Variation Order 2017-318 comes into effect on January 1, 2018.
