NORTH ATLANTIC RIGHT WHALES RETURN TO CANADIAN WATERS

 

Ottawa – A DFO C&P surveillance flight today reported a North Atlantic right whale swimming in Canadian waters, east of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

 

Based on the information we have at this time, there is no immediate plan to implement any temporary measures in the area.


At this time, fishing will continue but harvesters should be on alert.

 

The Government of Canada is undertaking extensive surveillance of many areas of Atlantic Canadian waters where North Atlantic right whales may be present over the coming months.
