Capelin, Herring, and Mackerel Fisheries Closing

DFO advises harvesters that all capelin and mackerel fisheries in the Newfoundland and Labrador Region will close as of December 31, 2018.

Herring fisheries in NAFO Divisions 2+3 (Herring Fishing Areas 1 to 12) in the Newfoundland and Labrador Region will close as of December 31, 2018.

Herring fisheries in NAFO Division 4R (Herring Fishing Areas 13 to 14) in the Newfoundland and Labrador Region will close as of March 31, 2019.

The following Variation Orders come into force on December 28, 2018

Capelin Mobile Gear 2018-409

Capelin Fixed Gear 2018-410

Herring Mobile Gear 2018-411

Herring Fixed Gear 2018-412
