2019 SNOW CRAB SEASON OPENING FOR 2J South of 54 40

DFO advises that the Snow Crab fishery will open at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, May 26, 2019 for NAFO Division 2J South of 54 40.

Fish harvesters are reminded that they are not authorized to set Crab traps until 72 hours after the Snow Crab fishery season has opened for their licensed crab fishing area. Therefore, any setting of Crab traps or possession of Crab before 6:00AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 6:00 a.m. is prohibited.

This is in accordance with section 52 of the Atlantic Fisheries Regulations where vessels are not authorized to leave port with crab traps onboard before the start of the season.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Order 2019-054 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-061 comes into effect on May 22, 2019.

Licence fees and licence conditions are available through the National Online Licencing System (NOLS).
