Applications to upgrade from Assistant Sealer to Professional Sealer status are now available

DFO advises that applications to upgrade from Assistant Sealer to Professional Sealer status are now available through an application process. Applicants must:

A. have held a valid Commercial Assistant Seal licence in the previous year;

B. confirm active participation in the Seal harvest for at least two years, since the 2014 introduction of mandatory Humane Harvesting training; and,

C. confirm successful completion of Marine Emergency Duties training (MED A1 or MED A3).

The “Application to Upgrade from Assistant to Professional Sealer” and the “Seal Vessel Registration Number” application forms will be available from Fisheries and Oceans Area Licencing Offices.

Additionally, both application forms will be available via the National Online Licencing System (NOLS) in the coming days.
