Fixed Gear Capelin Fishery Closing in 3L (Capelin Fishing Areas 6, 8 and 9)

DFO advises that, based on a recommendation from industry, the fixed gear Capelin Fishery will close on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 23:59 hours and reopen Friday, July 19, 2019 at 06:00 hours in the following capelin fishing areas:

• Trinity Bay (Capelin Fishing Area 6)

• Southern Shore (Capelin Fishing Area 8) Areas included are those between Cape Neddick and Cape Pine and between Long Point and Cape Neddick.

• St. Mary’s Bay (Capelin Fishing Area 9)

Harvesters who have traps set are not required to remove them during this closure.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Order 2019-158 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-162 comes into effect on July 17, 2019.
