Fixed Gear Capelin Fishery Closing in Bonavista Bay (Capelin Fishing Area 5)

DFO advises that, based on a recommendation from industry, the fixed gear Capelin Fishery in Bonavista Bay (Capelin Fishing Area 5) will close Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 23:59 hours. Harvesters who have traps set are not required to remove them during this closure.

Harvesters are advised to closely monitor Notice to Fishers for information regarding a future reopening of the area.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Order 2019-165 has been revoked and Variation Order 2019-166 comes into effect at 2100 hours on July 21, 2019.
