MACKEREL FISHERY OPENING IN WESTERN NL AREAS

DFO advises that the Mackerel fixed gear fishery (gillnet, trap, handlines, mechanical jigger, and bar seine, including tuck seine) for vessels less than 19.8 metres, and the Mackerel mobile gear fishery for vessels less than and greater than 19.8 metres in Mackerel Fishing Areas 12, 13, and 14, will open at 0600 hours on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

All fish harvesters are reminded that in line with the dockside monitoring requirements for this fishery, all fish product must be weighed off at point of landing.

Licence conditions can be obtained through DFO’s National On-line Licencing System.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Orders 2019-263 and 2020-136 have been revoked and Variation Orders 2020-142 and 2020-143 come into effect on July 28, 2020.
