Re-Opening of the 3Ps Cod Fishery to the Placentia Bay less than 35’ fixed-gear fleet
DFO advises that following consultation with industry, the directed Cod fishery in NAFO sub-Division 3Ps will re-open to the Placentia Bay less than 35’ fixed-gear fleet (Vessel Classes A262, A263, and A264) at 0600 hours on Sunday, October 18, 2020.
To ensure sufficient quota remains available for other fleets in the inshore fixed-gear sector, DFO will closely monitor landings. In consultation with industry representatives, DFO will determine an appropriate closing date for the Placentia Bay less than 35’ fleet.
DFO reminds harvesters that the directed 3Ps Cod fishery may close to the individual inshore fixed-gear fleets when respective fleet allocations are reached, and will close to the entire inshore fixed-gear sector if its total allocation is reached prior to the season end date of February 28, 2021.
Decisions regarding closing dates for the 3Ps Cod fishery will be communicated in advance via a Notice to Fishers.
