2021 Expression of Interest Greenland Halibut (Turbot) for 2+3K and 3LMNO
DFO advises harvesters who want to participate in the 2021 <65’ fixed gear fishery for Greenland Halibut (turbot) in divisions 2+3K or division 3LMNO, that they must submit their expression of interest to Fisheries and Oceans by 5 P.M. , Sunday May 16, 2021.
For the 2021 fishing season, permits will be used to manage both the 2+3K and 3LMNO Greenland Halibut (turbot) fishery. Once all expression of interests have been received, the permit trip limits for fisheries in 2+3K and 3LMNO will be set. The permit trip limits for 3L are expected to be between 8000-12,500 lbs (round weight) above the 2J3K (round weight) set permit amount, depending on level of interest.
The anticipated opening for this fishery will be June 1, 2021 and the permit will remain valid for 1 month in 3L and 2 months in 2+3K. A draw will be conducted in order to harvest any quota that was not taken during the initial permit period. All expressions of interests will be automatically included in the draw unless otherwise indicated in the expression of interest. Please write decline draw in your e-mail if you do not wish to have your name included.
Once all Expressions of Interest have been received, the permit amounts for the upcoming season will be set and harvesters will be advised by email of the amount for their selected area.
Fish harvesters are required to email expression of interest to the Resource Manager at kelly.firmage-o’brien@dfo-mpo.gc.ca
