NOTICE TO FISH HARVESTERS

June 29, 2021

Changes to the 3LMNO <65 FG Greenland Halibut (Turbot) Fishery

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans advises harvesters of the following management measures for the 3LMNO <65 FG Greenland Halibut Fisheries:

  • Harvesters will be subject to a trip limit and permit expiry dates will be removed.
  • Trip limits for 3LMNO will remain at 44,000 lbs Round Weight.
  • The tentative opening date is July 7, 2021.

Harvesters who previously held a permit for 3LMNO will be automatically issued new license conditions for that area regardless of having a previous landing in 3LMNO. For those harvesters who hold a 2+3K permit or harvesters who did not apply in the first round, you must contact the Department to be issued license conditions 3LMNO.

Harvesters can request new license conditions by e-mailing Kelly Firmage-O’Brien at kelly.firmage-o’brien@dfo-mpo.gc.ca

The issuance of these license conditions is not a guarantee that sufficient quota will be available to harvest your trip limit. The Department will continue to closely monitor this fishery and closures may occur on short notice.
