Molluscan Shellfish Harvesting Re-Opening for Roberts Arm Area, Notre Dame Bay

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) advises the public of the re-opening of previously closed areas to the harvesting of bivalve molluscan shellfish, including scallops, mussels and clams for recreational or commercial purposes in the following area of Notre Dame Bay near Robert's Arm (effective Wednesday, May 11, 2016):

  • Those waters that are inside, or southwest, of a straight line drawn from UTM grid reference 588305 5484484 southeast to grid reference 589141 5482628 (NAD 83, Zone 21) which includes all waters of Roberts Arm Harbour, Bear Cove, Moorey Cove, Hammer Cove and Measles Cove.

The reason for the reopening of these areas is that conditions warranting previous closures have since improved. More detailed information on these re-opened areas can be obtained from the nearest DFO office.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Prohibition Order NSN2016-003 has been revoked and Prohibition Order NSN2016-004 comes into effect on May 11, 2016.
