Subject: Final consultations - Ticketing project
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is continuing to work on a regulatory amendment project to expand the list of minor fisheries violations that would be subject to ticketing under the Contraventions Act regime. The proposal is to introduce ticketing for minor commercial and recreational fisheries offences that fall under the following regulations:
Fishery (General) Regulations
Atlantic Fishery Regulations, 1985
Newfoundland and Labrador Fishery Regulations
Pacific Fishery Regulations, 1993
British Columbia Sport Fishing Regulations, 1996
Initial consultations, held from September 2017 to January 2018, showed support in principle for an expanded ticketing regime. DFO is now seeking further stakeholder feedback on the regulatory offences that would be ticketed, and the associated ticket amounts.
How to participate in this consultation:
Please visit www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/ticketing to review the Sample of Proposed Tickets. Send your feedback by email to:
DFOTickets.ContraventionsMPO@dfo-mpo.gc.ca.
The consultation closes January 11, 2019.
Note that this is the final consultation on this project. We look forward to your input.
